The Exploring program is a career orientation program. Exploring posts are sponsored by businesses offering interested young adults the opportunity to investigate career opportunities before committing to a chosen profession. The Exploring program is open to all young adults who are at least 14 years of age and are not yet 21 years of age, live in or around the City of Warren and have no criminal record. Parental approval is required for all persons under 18 years of age.
The City of Warren Police Explorers meet the first three Monday’s of every month from 6pm to 8pm at the Warren Police Department Headquarters. The Police Advisors give instructional and hands on classes on the day to day duties and responsibilities of a Police Officer. Some of the classes are:
Post members participate in various city functions such as Police Memorial Service, Warren City Fair and other City of Warren Parks and Recreation functions. Uniforms are required for Explorers and fundraising can be done to help offset the cost. Department Ride-Along program for Explorers who have met minimum training criteria and have an exemplary attendance and participation records. Post Community Policing Explorer Unit with Post Police Mountain Bikes Post Color Guard Unit who performs functions at various city memorials and civic events.
